(b)(2) Has had at least 500 hours time as a pilot

Where is the definition of "Time as a Pilot" Is this total time, PIC
time, SIC time etc. What time is included as Pilot time? Is there a
reference or ruling?

FAR 61.2(a)(12) Pilot time means that time in which a person--
(i) Serves as a required pilot flight crewmember;
(ii) Receives training from an authorized instructor in an aircraft,
flight simulator, or flight training device; or
(iii) Gives training as an authorized instructor in an aircraft, flight
simulator, or flight training device.
